Anna Dewdney was a teacher, mother, and enthusiastic proponent of reading aloud to children. She continually honed her skills as an artist and writer and published her first Llama Llama book in 2005. Her passion for creating extended to home and garden and she lovingly restored an 18th century farmhouse in southern Vermont. She wrote, painted, gardened, and lived there with her partner, Reed, her two daughters, two wirehaired pointing griffons, and one bulldog.xa0Anna passed away in 2016, but her spirit will live on in her books.

Ok for really young kids
We have and love all the full size books. I preordered this one expecting to love it. My girls are 4 and want to reread the full size books and look at the pictures all the time. They show no interest in this one. It has no story. Maybe it is just for a much younger audience than the other books, but it is very short with not much to read. The picutres are nice, but normally my girls point at the pictures and talk about them or ask questions. They didn't show any interest in the picutres. Do not expect a story like the full size books- he wakes up/gets dressed/THe end. I have cancelled my preorders for the rest of the books. I think these books are for kids 2 and under. Sadly, there is nothing to tell a parent before you buy them that they are not for the same age group as the other books.

cute, but shorter than Llama Llama Red Pajama
We loved the original Llama Llama Red Pajama book, and I was looking for a morning book to read to my little one so I was happy to see Wakey-Wake. It is much shorter than the original book, with far fewer words but it is cute and keeps our little one's attention. The price is very reasonable and it was hard to find specific good morning books. This one talks about getting ready for your day, finding clothes to wear, giving a kiss goodbye, and having a good day. I would recommend, but still love the original best!

LLAMA LLAMA!
Bought it for my 2.5 y/o daughter. When I opened the box and she saw her new Llama Llama book she screamed, "LLAMA LLAMA! LOOK! LLAMA LLAMA!"
She was in love with it before we even read it. She loves the other Llama Llama books and knows the words to a few of them. And she's enjoying this one now too.

Perfect for little ones!
My 11 month old loves these books and actually hands them to me to read. The are a good length for bedtime and not annoying or sappy, they don't make me want to cry either, which is nice! They are thick and sturdy too, so he can chew away and I don't mind. He loves the simple text and pictures. Great price too! I hope this review was helpful!

Baby loves it
We read a lot of books in the morning so it's nice to have a good morning themed book among all our night time books.
My four months old really enjoys the colorful pages and I feel like I'm teaching him about morning activities, too.

Nothing like the others
I'm very disappointed in this book. My son loves "Llama Llama Red Pajama" and "Llama Llama Mad at Mama". This book is nothing like the other stories. I wouldn't even say there's a storyline here, and certainly none of the adorable llama rhyming found in the other books. It seems like there was almost no thought put into it. I'm very disappointed. My son is only two and it would be great to have the llama stories in a format that he could manage without accidentally destroying. I thought this was it, but I was wrong.

Much simpler than “Llama Llama Red Pijama”
I too was looking for a book that explains morning routines to my almost 2year old toddler. This book has very little text, but very nice illustrations. It is definitely much simpler than the famous “ Llama Llama Red Pijama”, which is one of the top books writing-wise in my child’s extensive library. That being said, I knew it had little text and I bought it for the illustrations and concepts it was explaining. I think it does the job, and I would buy it again.

wonderful board book for babies
This is a cute board book for babies and toddlers (ages 0-2/3) that happens to feature the same Baby Llama and Mama Llama so many of us know and love from the longer Llama Llama books. As a board book for babies and toddlers, it's wonderful -- a short sentence or two per page, rhyming text with a nice cadence, familiar scenes (wake up, brush teeth, eat breakfast, etc.), and Anna Dewdney's lovely illustrations.
If, however, you have a child already in love with the longer Llama Llama books, this one is likely to be a disappointment because it really falls in a completely different category. The longer ones have plot, character development, and full-on llama drama, perfect for preschoolers (and many toddlers and older kids, too). This is a board book for babies -- easy to hold with one hand, short and simple. It narrates a typical morning routine, absent of any conflict or drama. So by all means read it to your baby or young toddler, but know what you're getting!

Cute, fun read!
My toddler is enjoying this book. The rhyme is cute and the illustrations are engaging. The colors and text are appropriate for creating reading appreciation in the young set. My daughter is 2.5. This is worth the money. I even purchased the audio recording of this book over at audible. My daughter loves to listen in the car! FUN BOOKS.
