Features & Highlights
From the # 1
New York Times
bestselling author of
Girl, Wash Your Face
comes the story of a small-town girl finding her way in Hollywood one misstep at a time.
Landon Brinkley’s dreams are all coming true. She’s landed an internship with a fabulous event planner for the Hollywood elite, taking her from small-town Texas to the bright lights of LA. Landon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event―even a child’s birthday party―is de rigueur, and the whims of celebrity clients are life-and-death matters. At first, the thrill of working on A-list parties and celebrity weddings is enough to survive the seventy-five-hour workweeks and her mercurial boss. But when the reality of the business reveals itself, she’s forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.
Drawing on the author’s real-life experiences as an event planner to the stars,
Party Girl
takes readers on an adventure among Hollywood’s most beautiful―and most outrageous―people, revealing the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.
Revised edition: This edition of Party Girl includes editorial revisions.

Tote Adorbs!
First published on (...)
This is a book that I picked up on a whim for the most superficial of reasons! I love the author’s instagram feed. I feel like it just adds a burst of colour, style and humour to my day when I see her photos so of course I wanted to see what a book of hers would feel like. The answer, pretty much the same as the above!
First Line of Party Girl by Rachel Hollis:
“I’m singing….or, really, bellowing might be a better word.”
My Thoughts on Party Girl by Rachel Hollis:
This book is just what you might find under a definition of totes adorbs in a modern slang dictionary! From the start to the end, it full of colour and glamour and fun. Landon has moved to LA to work with a famous party planner and she is determined to learn everything she can about party planning from her idol. She quickly learns that she has the boss from hell though as Selah’s main skills are sucking up to clients and berating her staff.
I loved how smart and ambitious Landon was. She is such a positive thinker and knows the meaning of hard graft. The events that she worked on are all described in their full chic glamour and I could visualise just how stunning they were. It was one of my favourite parts of the book and even the hustle and bustle and mini disasters were fun to read about.
It also features a lot of fashion and descriptions of what the characters are wearing. Which is something I personally love but I know it’s something that lots of readers hate so I just want to put it out there. It’s description heavy in lots of parts about the clothes, the parties, the locations but it not in an annoying way, just in a way that makes you feel like you are flicking through a glossy magazine.
The relationships in the books are a lot of fun too. Landon’s roommate Max is a character I was intrigued about so I’m happy to see the next book is all about her. And the romantic plot was just the way I like it in a chick-lit book, it was romantic, funny and not overly graphic. I wouldn’t spoil the book for anyone by saying just who HE is but my money was on him from the beginning. Predictable ? A bit but when you are enjoying it this much, who cares!
I picked up this book on a Saturday when I wanted a feel-good book and it didn’t disappoint. I had a big goofy grin on my face during the overture moment at the end and felt happy at just how it all ended. Mission accomplished!
Who should read Party Girl by Rachel Hollis?
I’d highly recommend this to you if you are looking for a feel-good, happy book that features a loveable main character, a romantic plotline and lots of beautiful, glamorous events. Fans of Aven Ellis, Lindsey Kelk and Sophie Kinsella should also enjoy this one.

Great Read, easy to start
I first want to say this book sucks you in from the beginning. It might not be a literary masterpiece but it is entertaining. I would think this is focused towards a younger audience. As a 50 year old woman it was refreshing to read something not filled with raunchy sex. I needed a light hearted read and that is what this book gave me. I will be reading more from this author in the years to come.
If you want an easy read, fresh characters and fun then this just might be the book for you.

I listened to this series on audible, I didn't buy it on Amazon but I had to say something!
The main characters of these books are insufferable! I was listening, not even reading so it was less time consuming (I didnt have to devote special time to read, I could listen while doing dishes etc) but I was so disgusted with the main characters foolishness that I could hardly wade through. I have a hard time just stopping mid-book because I feel like a quitter, I say to myself maybe it'll get better BUT IT NEVER GOT BETTER. These main characters (in all 3 books in the series cannot express themselves). In Landon's case it makes her clown-ishly stupid. In Max's case it makes her laughably rude to everyone in her life (in reality no one would be around her; she would have totally isolated herself). And Miko is kinda better just naive. Ugh this series is ugh

Landon, a not-so-worldly girl turns inspiration! Feel the feels with her!
Let me start by saying that I heard about Rachel Hollis’s books straight from her. I follow her personal Facebook page, as well as her business Facebook page, The Chic Site. Since I started following her several months ago, I have found her very inspiring and very real in what she shares about herself in both sites. And, even though, her books weren’t necessarily the type of book I prefer to read, I figured I would give them a try.
I read Party Girl over the course of five days - in as much time as I could give once my toddlers went to bed. Let me tell you, the only time I was disappointed was each night when I forced myself to stop reading and when I had finished the book. I love Landon (based on Rachel herself) and all of the interesting and well-developed characters. The story made me laugh out loud, made me cry like a blubbering idiot, and most importantly it inspired me. Landon’s journey, while not the same as my own, showed her daring, her courage, her challenges, and how taking that first step, while scary is also worth the success when you put all of yourself into your dream.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t mind feeling the feels and being inspired by a fun, sometimes serious, but also inspiring story of courage, love and friendship.
Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your story and being an inspiration! On to book two, Sweet Girl!!

Hypoglycemia is not a disease
This is a fun read full of characters you are supposed to either love or hate. My interest turned to disappointment when Max was found on the floor in a pool of blood after suffering from a bout of hypoglycemia, passing out and hitting her head. If a person becomes hypoglycemic it is because of an underlying condition. You might be diabetic and taken too much insulin. Certain drugs can cause hypoglycemia. Excessive alcohol consumption might be another cause. Pancreatic tumors, liver disease, pituitary gland disorders could all cause hypoglycemia. Being a frail girl who needs to be reminded to "keep her blood sugar up" because she's hypoglycemic is ridiculous. I doubt, even in LA, doctors are so shallow they think hypoglycemia is a disease in and of itself. Ruined the book for me.

Her non-fiction is fabulous and her fiction is fun!
What a fun read! It has no pretension and flows easily. The plot line would seem cheesy were it not close to how the author really did make her way. It was super fun to guess which parts of the romance actually happened IRL with her husband. I really love the author’s voice in “Girl, Wash Your Face” and was a bit nervous to read her fiction work. I think watching her real life and reading her experiences and taking her advice is my favorite, but her character in this book is just as darling and daring as the author/entrepreneur I follow.

Can’t put this book down!
[[VIDEOID:7c6e2d1c0eaf1201474a250d26d56caf]] I love Rachel Hollis’ non fiction books, so I thought I’d try her fiction ones, as I’m trying to get back into reading and not streaming. I seriously can’t put this book down! It is so good that I can’t wait to put the kids to bed so I can read more! It is light hearted and entertaining! Definitely recommend this book!

Meh.
I knew this was a "fluff" book (wouldn't really take much effort to read it) but it reads like a YA book. It's like Sweet Valley High gets a job in L.A. Will not read any more by this author.
