Features & Highlights

  • Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness,” is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant―hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you. Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face. Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants. Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be. There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately―the royals are far from accepting of this commoner. But to Olivia―Nicholas is worth it. Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Cinderella meets Gossip Girl

Throw in a dash of Pretty In Pink and a pinch of Fifty Shades and voila you have this story. Oh yes and don't forget the 1970s historical romances this is reminiscent of. I'm a huge Emma Chase fan. She's an auto buy for me and a drop everything and read it now! But this book doesn't meet her usual standards, IMHO. It's just been done too many times in too many different ways-and this book encompasses all of them. Not my favorite but I have high hopes for book 2 in this new series. Sorry but you set the bar high Emma.

Full of spoilers

I usually love Emma Chase. "Appealed" is one of my favorites! First rant: the country of Wessco sounds more like a multinational corporation that has shipping, tampons and routers. Second rant: the requirement that Nicholas marry a blue-blood and virgin seems archaic, especially for a non-figure head monarchy. Think Kate Middtleton, Princess Grace, Queen Noor. Couldn't it just be that Nicholas doesn't want to be King and Olivia doesn't want to be Queen? Had a hard time getting into the characters.

3 stars

This book went in so many different directions that it felt a bit inconsistent, and I didn't love the characters or the silly misunderstandings that largely fueled the plot. But it was entertaining overall, so 3 stars seems about right.

An absolutely amazing start to an addicting series!

Emma Chase is now a new favorite author of mine! Royally Screwed was my first novel of hers that I read, and it will definitely not be the last. I absolutely loved the storyline and characters she created and how she brought everything to life in a spectacular way. Emma’s writing style was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed reading every single page of Nicholas and Olivia’s story. It has been a long time since I’ve read a Royal-inspired novel, and Royally Screwed definitely renewed my love for this trope.

Nicholas and Olivia were amazing characters and I honestly couldn’t help but fall in love with them and their story from the very beginning. They were both extremely likable characters, and even though they had their moments of stupidity now and then, I loved reading every second of their story. It was interesting, intriguing, and most definitely entertaining. I loved reading the book from both of their points of view, and I was very glad the author told their story that way. I can tell you right now that I would not have loved this book nearly as much if it had only been told from Olivia’s POV. The secondary characters were wonderful as well and were quite the lively bunch. They definitely made the book more interesting to read and added extra life to the story. I also loved the abundance of romance and humor the author wove throughout the book, and thought she did an excellent job with every aspect of Nicholas and Olivia’s story. There were plenty of surprising moments throughout, especially towards the end of the book, and I was extremely pleased with the conclusion. To say I’m excited to read Henry’s story in Royally Matched would be an understatement. I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on his book!

Just sooo good.

Audio Book Review!
This book was amazing. Royally Screwed was just sooo good. The narration was outstanding. The characters were just so enjoyable. Main and supporting cast. I loved them all. The plot was juicy and filled with all the good stuff you'd want and expect from this kind of trope. I didn't want this book to end. But I didn't want to stop listening to it. Romance, romance, romance. Argh! It was just sooooo lovely! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

BE CAREFUL DISNEY ! YOU HAVE A SERIOUS COMPETITOR !

BE CAREFUL DISNEY ! YOU HAVE A SERIOUS COMPETITOR!
ROYALLY SCREWED by Emma Chase
Do you remember the fairytales of our youth? How we fell in love with the prince? how we saw the poor beautiful girl becoming the princess with the beautiful wardrobe? How we wanted to slap the vilains? the way we dreamt to be that princess?
We have all that in this book! But we are no more kids so... the prince is a lot sexier (the king of bed!), the princess is stronger (but still with a heart of gold), we cry a lot more (i did actually) and we also laugh. No little funny animal here, but second characters really funny or lovely. And i can't wait for Henry's story !!
The magic works perfectly!
Thank you Emma Chase
