Heart Wrenching, Unique Poetry

Sometimes i fall asleep thinking about you is a brilliantly captivating journey of love and loss, and all the stages one goes through after the loss of a great love. A few of my favorites were “Some Facts About Forgetting” and “Ghost”. These poems talk about how even years later it’s ok to miss that person who stomped on your heart and maybe even want to talk to them even though you know you won’t. It’s ok to miss someone and still know you did the right thing by leaving.
The poems and prose are written in such a unique style that captured my attention instantly. There are beautiful illustrations throughout that make it look as if you are reading from someone’s diary. I especially appreciated the handwritten prose.
I did not expect to have such a visceral reaction to this book but I did! These poems ripped my heart out and made me see things about myself that I hadn’t wanted to look at it but perhaps needed to. I owe this author a debt of gratitude because her poetry provided me with several cleansing cries and validated a lot of things I have been feeling in my own life.
This is a must-read for anyone who has ever loved deeply, loved in a way that was not healthy or who has ever felt as if their heart would never mend. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!

Reflective (& I Love Catarine’s Poetic Style!)

I LOVE Catarine’s poetry! Her poems are always so smooth with a bit of personal flare!

Shades of lovers felt much more emotional, whereas this book was more reflective in both a happy/grateful and sad way. In terms of length, the book wasn’t as long as it felt and I was kind of surprised. I thought it was closer to 200 pages. Then I realized it was because I got so into the flow of each piece - even the really short ones! One of those “I don’t want it to end” things.

Catarine’s variation was nice as well. There were some really long poems, prose poetry poems, the kind that uses the slashes (don’t know the name), and some really short 2-4 liners. None of them felt out of place, too long or short, or had any kind of awkward phrasing. It was just absoutely SMOOTH.

Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend this collection as much as I would recommend shades of lovers! ‘sometimes i fall asleep thinking about you’ has a wonderful blend of emotion and reflection among feelings of love and heartbreak. A fantastic read!

It made me feel some sorta way

Beautifully written with such raw emotion. In some parts and in some ways, I feel my old thoughts have been reflected back toward me. I felt the hurt of each word, I felt the sting of every incident. I loved this book and it made me feel validated.

Beautiful and Relatable

The poem that the title is from took my breath away from how relatable and raw it was. From the moment I opened this book I couldn’t put it down. Absolutely stunning work!

Hauntingly beautiful in every way!

Sometimes i fall asleep about you will take you down a path of what it means to love someone unconditionally, but have that love turned into a spiraling, out of control, out of boundaries relationship with a person who was supposed to be your forever someone. when you ask someone to die for you, you're not asking for them to just drop dead, you're asking them just how much does their love run deep? reading this, overtime, its like a hand is dragging you through, pulling you through the pain, that seems to keep going until you're on the otherside, you're still remembdring the name, buf forgetting why you're there in the first place. it teaches a lesson on what it means to let go of someone who couldn't understand how badly it hurt, how terrible they made you feel, how they could have turned everything around, but they didn't. this book speaks a lot about choices, a lot about finding yourself after everything goes down, about finding out that its not the end of the universe, because eventually, everything picks back up again, you'll move on, you'll love again, and that's the beauty i found in this book. at first it was hard to read because it starts out so strong, the painful feelings in it, and i was crying the whole time. i took in every word cafefully. which is why i was not able to finish it in one sitting. i love this book so much. it definitely is a must read if you have not yet done so. there is an importance in this book in every page to the very end.

A collection of poems full of raw and real emotion

If you have ever been in a relationship that has left your heart feeling like it has been run over (perhaps repeatedly) by a Mack truck, this book of poems is for you.

If you have never been in a relationship like this - lucky you. Read the book anyways.

Love, and life for that matter, can be extremely messy at times. I’ve always found that poetry can act as a much needed reminder that we are not alone in our feelings.

Catarine Hancock’s sometimes i fall asleep thinking about you officially comes out today (April 6th), and I highly suggest you read this one.

The collection of poems is a true and honest reflection of heartbreak and healing - what it is like to feel whole and mended some days, and yet surprisingly still absolutely shredded inside on others.

Catarine’s writing holds so much emotion, and her style is rather unique. Unlike most poetry books, there is no real uniformity in the structure of each poem. Instead, it reads more like the raw, unfiltered ramblings of one’s brain have been tossed down on paper and bound together. This is actually the thing I like most about her work. It is exactly what makes it feel so unapologetically real.

Thank you to both NetGalley and Central Avenue Publishing for allowing me the opportunity to read a digital ARC before the release date in exchange for an honest review.

I want to read everything by her now

I think if I met this author , looking into her eyes would feel like looking into a mirror. Ive never read a book before where every single word felt like it was pouring out of my wounds onto the page instead of it being just words on a page I relate to. This read and rating and review is honestly so biased and personal and im not even sorry about it. Because i feel seen. Thank you Catarine.

Amazing

My favorite takeaway from this book is how self reflective it can make you about relationships over your lifespan including your parents if you have had narcissist trauma as a child.
