Description

About the Author Alyssa Rose Ivy is a New Adult and Young Adult author who loves to weave stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.

Features & Highlights

  • This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.

Light-hearted and Deep...

I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting when deciding to read the Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy, but whatever it was, this was a million times better! I love all of Ivy's books, this isn't a surprise, she writes extremely well and the characters she develops in her novels are so real that you can't help but love them.

That being said, The Hazards of Skinny Dipping might actually be my all-time favorite book from her that I've read thus far. I cannot get over how utterly amazing this book was. The Hazards of Skinny Dipping follows Juliet who is starting her freshmen year of college in a few weeks, but according to her cousin Amy, there are some things she needs to do before starting classes, like skinny dipping.

What Juliet doesn't know is that the guy she's been obsessing over forever is going to catch her and things after that, well they get a little crazy. I loved this book, did I mention that? Like I full out love it and want to draw pink fluffy hearts around everyone, well except for three people. When I dislike a character, I really dislike them. I'm not a half-assing it kind of a person. The fact that I wanted to poke them (or possibly push them down some stairs) just shows what an amazing writer Ivy is.

I think Juliet is awesome. She's definitely someone I would get along with. She's snarky (my favorite thing), independent, mildly insecure (but who isn't) and adventures though I know she doesn't think she is. There were a few times I wanted to throttle her, but she eventually came to her sense and we were cool again. Haha you like how I worked that word in there, cool. I also have to mention I love her relationship with her cousin Amy, and the emails they share through chapters.

I was not a fan of Dylan. He was okay in the beginning, but the second he dragged her over to his place after the whole pool thing, my opinion of him plummeted. I'm not a fan of guys who think everything is about them (mostly because everything should be about me...Kidding haha) it just puts up red flags for me.

Reed however is the best. I want to bury him in pink fluffy hearts. He's not perfect, but that's exactly why I love him. He's funny, laid back most of the time, responsible, and just a really good guy. He's got some pretty bad guilt inside of him, but I think his friendship with Juliet really helps him through that.

Gah, I'm spasing out because now I'm thinking about the book and all I want to do is read it again. Seriously, The Hazards of Skinny Dipping is now on my top ten list of all-time favorite books and I read a lot. My advice, check out this book as soon as it's available, if you're looking for a light hearted read with some angst and the best most funniest dialogue ever (yes I did just write that), The Hazards of Skinny Dipping is for you!

Really Good...cover looks cheesy but the book is great.

I didn't get this at first because of the cover and the title. I thought it would be cheesy but I actually really enjoyed it. I loved Juliet and Reed. I Can't wait to see if there is going to be another book about them. The author kind of hinted at it at the end but also left this story completely finished (since it is about skinny dipping lol). I just wish Juliet would have pulled her head out of her butt long before she did. Dylan was an ass and after she had warnings from at least three people (including his own brother) she still stayed and refused to see what an ass he was...especially when you have a God like Reed right infront of you.
