My son was extremely disappointed that the author wrote in a female dragon having more than a crush on another female dragon. It ruined it for him. This is a kids book. Very disappointing.

Stop at Book 10

As other reviewers have noted, this series has gone downhill. My oldest recommends stopping at book 10 to avoid getting “hooked” on the next sections of the story which includes a same-sex attraction between characters in book 13. We’re done.

4.5 stars

Rereading definitely made me appreciate the world of The Lost Continent even more than the first time. The relationship between the SilkWings and HiveWings is so utterly heartbreaking. Queen Wasp's usage of a pacifistic society is sickening and a little too realistic, in some ways. SilkWings are raised with good food and homes and education, but they are forced into breeding programs (nothing as inhumane as warehouses or sex slaves, but they are told whom they can be mated with and so on), trained for specific jobs and only those jobs, seen as second class citizens, and dissension and "misbehavior" is dealt with severely. Young SilkWings are taken every school year to the jail and forced to see what will happen if they misbehave. SilkWings who mature into flamesilks are thrown into dark pits and forced to spin their silk as a commodity for the HiveWings, controlled entirely by Queen Wasp. The dank caves with timed feeding is considered preferable by its inhabitants because, as Admiral tells Blue near the end of the book, "there used to be chains."

This easy manipulation of power by Wasp and the devotion of the HiveWings--who unknowingly are pawns to Wasp as well--makes her one of the most interesting villains to date. Everything about this book makes me think about if Blister had become queen of the SandWings in the first series cycle. This is the series of "what happens after the evil queen wins the throne." I cannot wait to see how this plays out over the next four books. I find the characters to be fascinating, complex--though still needing development--and I want to learn more about Wasp, the war, and the geography of the continent.

AMAZING, AS USUAL. There were some odd twists and turns that got me confused, but that's nothing compared to the endless possibilities of this book. RECOMMENDED READ - ESPECIALLY FOR WINGS OF FIRE FANS!

The Lost Continent does not disappoint

This book is really good. I like how it picks up in the prologue after the events of Legends Darkstalker but before the events of The Dragonet Prophecy. So far my favorite Pantalian characters are Sunstreak, Blue, and the Leafwings. I also like how the books Darkstalker and Darkness of Dragons kind of gave a sneak peek of what was to come. It is also really cool to see the map of Pantala. The colors on the cover are both cool and beautiful. I love it. This book is definitely worth your time and money.

Sneaking in LGBTQ to our youth

Very disappointed! After book 10, the author adds in same sex relationships. It was unnecessary to bring immorality into a childrens novel. You are targeting our youth, indoctrinating them into believing same sex relationships are ok, and behind parents' backs! With the first 10 novels being ok, I would have let my kids read the remaining books without sensoring them first. I am glad I saw another review for this one first! STOP TARGETING OUR YOUTH!
I wish I had known sooner so we could have stayed clear of this series all together, which is very sad to say. It is a huge disappointment to have to stop reading what WERE entertaining and fun books.

One of the Best Books in the Series!

Lost Continent was an amazing book! It tells the story of a young SilkWing, Blue, who tries to escape from the queen of the HiveWings, Queen Wasp, along with his three friends: Swordtail, Sundew, and Cricket. Besides telling the story from a new character’s point of view, the book also introduces new tribes and a new continent called Pantala. It is detail-packed and left on an exciting cliffhanger, where Luna ends up on the beach of Pyrrhia, and is found by Moon and Qubili. Overall, Lost Continent is a must- read!
