Magnificent sad,sad tale

Joseph Wambaugh truly has the pulse of the police
experience. The story was written with the usual odd
Characters..thus evoking lots of chuckles as one reads
on. The plot was bittersweet and terribly sad.
A great read!

Great story and a great read

Another Wambaugh story line combines all the elements: humor, sadness, despair, and intrigue. Don't ever read a Wambaugh book if your looking for a fairy-tale ending. Great story and a great read.

Joseph Wambaugh is a master story teller

He creates another mystery but slowly and artfully building his characters around a murder of a young man. His dark humor is representative of almost all his novels but is necessary for the continued flow of his storyline. This is one of his best works.

Wambaugh - yes

I love reading Wambaugh. He captured me on his first novel (oh so long ago) The Centurions. His books now seem to be quirky, with humor, and always have characters just a few points off of "normal". I like how he thinks!!!

Ok book but same characters

I've read Wambaugh's books for years and I enjoy them, but this one just rehashes the same characters he's used for years.

Not too happy with the ending...

Just when I thought it all made sense and it was all good, a question was thrown in the mix. And it's not like there's enough of a story there to write a sequel. Bummer :(
