I think that it's only fair to warn everyone that I am going to gush this review. Okay consider yourself warned.

I think that I have found myself a new go to author in contemporary romance! Scartlett Cole is willing to delve into dark corners and shine a spotlight on the issues with her writing. In this book the issue was how the First Nations peoples were and still are being treated in Canada (though the way we Americans treat and have treated Native Americans here in the States is even worse). I haven't had the opportunity to read the first two books in this series...yet. They are now on my list.

Another thing that really impressed me was the depth of the characters. I hadn't even read the first two books but I felt like I knew the members of Preload as well as their significant others as well as I would know a friend.

Nic and Jenny are a wonderful main atraction. They both had issues that they had to face and the book doesn't shy away from the emotional wounds from the past. And the sex when it finally arrived fit into the plot rather then the plot fitting around the sex. And it made sense!

There is a lot of cursing as well as some really hot sex in this book but if those aren't trigger points then I would highly recommend this book. I have already set myself up on FictFact to be notified when the next book arrives.

So I will admit this is the first book by Scarlett Cole that I have read, and I’m happy to say I was not disappointed. I loved the story between Nik and Jenny.

Nik and Jenny have a past, a past where trust and hearts were broken. Jenny comes back to town after years apart and comes face to face with Nik, the person she never really wanted to see again. Nik, however, was more than happy when he saw Jenny again. Nik is home after touring with his band/his brothers, and working on fixing up his house. Jenny works at a home for boys, the same home that Nik spent time in.

One thing I like about this story was that it was not your typical book where the girl has no real backstory other than the boy broke her heart. Jenny had a rough upbringing that affects the way she is now as an adult. I also like that she made Nik work his way back into her life, there was no instant forgiveness.

“I’m building our house for us, and I don’t even know if you’ll ever move in. But like the house, we’ve had to strip back what we were to the bones of it, and now we get to decide what we want to do with that foundation.”

This quote absolutely sums up what Jenny and Nik have to do in order to move forward, and it is my favorite quote from this story. I really liked how Scarlett Cole handled the subject of what tore them apart, and took time to bring them back together, as well as how they interacted with the people in their lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Nikan Rebuilt. This was the first book that I've read in this series and it was a standalone.
It was a very in depth telling of Nikan and Jenny's second chance romance. This book takes on a very unique take as it includes Nikan's cultural background and the upbringing that Jenny had.
I easily became invested in these two characters and definitely had to know what happens between them.
Their story was beautifully told by Ms Cole and I look forward to reading more from this author!

I've been waiting for Nikan's story, it was worth the wait! Looking back and seeing what him and Jenny had, the love that they had for each other made my heart break for these two when a mistake cost them their relationship.

I loved how Jenny fought to get where she is in life now. She wanted something and made it happen. She didn't just fall back into Nikan's arms (which would have been so easy to do). She stayed strong through it all.

Nikan's story...sigh....yeah, my hurt for him too. What he went through, how he felt....sigh

Love this series!!! I so can't wait for the next one!!

Scarlett Cole has written an incredible book that really opened my eyes to some of the struggles that people have faced in their life. This was so much more then just a love story between two incredible characters. It was about the pain of the past that happened many years ago and the way that the pain it has on people in the future. I loved the way the author was able to write about this and the way that she she put so much emotion into her story.

I absolutely adored Jenny and loved the way that she looked after others. I really thought she was a compassionate and kind person who has been through a lot fo pain her life. I really enjoyed the way that she cared for the boys in her care.

Nikan I absolutely loved and fell for him from the very first part of there story. He was incredible throughout the story and loved the way that he owned up to his mistakes and worked to make himself a better man. I really felt for him with the things that happened to him when he was young and I loved the way that he tried to help other kids that are in a similar situation that he was in.

Nikan Rebuilt is the third book in the preload series and is about the second chance romance between Nikan and Jenny who have both experienced a lot of pain in their life.

This would have to be one of my favourite books that I have read so far this year and I absolutely loved it. The author did an amazing job and I cant wait to read the next book in the Preload series.

The third installment of the Preload series will not disappoint and Scarlett Cole once again does an amazing job weaving Nikan’s story.

Nikan is tired, tired of the traveling and tired of having to keep playing music he no longer is inspired by. But he doesn’t want to disappoint the men who are like brothers to him, so he continues on like always. But when he is faced with the past in the form of his ex-girlfriend, everything changes.

Jenny knew she would she Nikan again she just wasn’t expecting how much it would effect her. After breaking up with him years ago and disappearing, she is now back in his life, but is she willing to let him in again?

Nikan knows that Jenny is his world, and he just needs to convince her the same thing. But it will not be easy and old hurts will be brought up. And in the middle of trying to secure his future he will also have to face the future with his band and brothers. Is he ready for everything to change? Or will he once again take on his role of making sure everything works out and let his happiness walk away?
