Stick with the trilogy, skip books 4/5

You can tell that the series was originally written as a trilogy. Books 4 and 5 are glommed on as an afterthought. In the fashion of Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hunger Games, books 4 and 5 are actually a single story that are divided into two parts.

The worst part is that one of the main new "features" (Zombies) is left as an unfinished thread at the end of the book in case she wants to come back and write more books. For the Zombies / Shades to play such a pivotal role in these books and then to not wrap up that storyline at the end felt very incomplete and dissatisfying.

Do yourself a favor, stop at book 3.

Grand kids waiting on new releases books this November

Book one in a series. The grandkids and I loved it but I suggest teaching the Bible to your children before they read these series so they know they are reading fiction.

just so sad it ended

Very interesting, just so sad it ended. I thought there was some kind of unfinished business that could have kept on going in the series.
