Word for Word: Fun Finds!: Word Search Puzzles for Kids ages 6-8 (Word for Word Crosswords)

I would love to give this 0 b/c how you can screw up a word search publication not just with one misspelling but multiple is beyond me ...My 6 yr old couldn’t find dog on page 19 and I thought she wasn’t trying hard enough....She was...it was not there or rather was but in misspelled form as was the word together on page 21...Ridiculous!!!! Do not buy this for your kids!!!!

There are several puzzles that are missing words that are listed on the word list. They’re also missing from the answer key on the back pages.

I got this for my 7-year-old, and he has crushed it! He probably didn't even realize that the book got progressively more difficult as the pages were flipped, going from 10 x 10 to 12 x 12 to 15 x 15 in the end. The coolest part of this book is the simple life lessons it offers from page to page, about family togetherness, acting kindly, eating healthy foods, etc. My son's impressionable enough that these messages actually sink in with him, or at least plant the seeds needed to grow up to be a good person. Fun stuff!

I really wanted to rate this better. Bought them to keep kids busy and develop a focus skill set. When they would call me over on multiple pages that they could not find a word. I thought they just gave up. But, no!
Multiple pages don't have the word within the puzzle. Never heard of such thing for a word search.

Our 7 year old started out loving this book but became frustrated when she couldn't find a few of the words. When my wife and I helped her, we discovered that there are words listed to be found that aren't even in the puzzle! Even the answer key at the end of the book shows fewer than the listed words (i.e. page 82 puzzle lists 16 words to be found, but only 12 are actually in the puzzle - this is confirmed by only 12 answers in the key). This is just one example, there are other puzzles in the book with the same issue.

This is a product for 6-8 year olds. Sending them on a search for words that aren't even in the puzzle is, well, just mean. I'm very disappointed in the authors / publishers of this book and they should be ashamed for offering this poor quality product.

This is a fun book of word searches for kids age 6-8. There are about 10-12 words in each puzzle and they start out in very large print with plenty of white space between them. I appreciate that! As you go through the book, they gradually transition into a smaller print with more letters in the puzzle.

The words are themed and most of them are not too cutesy (like, things to pack on a sleepover, greetings from around the world, Ancient Egypt). I love that one of the pages gives jokes and then some of the words from the punchlines (designated in bold print) are hidden in the word find. There are even puzzles with hidden synonyms, rhyming words, and homophones, which is a great idea.

I don’t care for the few with pop culture references (there’s an entire Spongebob Squarepants puzzle and one for Disney World) and there are more than a few references to not liking school (there’s one for dealing with bullies, one on avoiding fights, one on peer pressure, one on managing stress, and one on anxiety), so overall four stars. It’s not a great fit for homeschool kids who actually enjoy school (and aren’t as likely to be media saturated). But, if you are looking for a generally fun gender-neutral birthday present idea, this is a good one!

My 6 year old absolutely loves word puzzles so I was excited to buy this for her. Love the way this was thought out and each page themed. However, lots of words are not in the puzzle or simply misspelled!!!!

Many of the puzzles are missing words from the puzzle or are misspelled. Not sure if we have a misprint or what’s wrong.

I was excited to give this puzzle book to my 6-year-old daughter. By the sixth page of the book a “find the differences” puzzle, she couldn’t find two remaining items. I looked for a long time. There are no answers provided in the back. I finally went online to see if I could find the puzzle. Turns out the puzzle should be in color so we couldn’t see 2 of the 5 differences. I’m sure there are more of these issues, as the entire book is black and white. We returned the book.

The lists of words to find remind me of the spelling lists I used to have to memorize as a kid. This book reinforces spelling as a child searches for each word letter-by-letter. This book can also be used to increase a child's vocabulary by helping them look up words in a dictionary. I did this with my daughters when they were little. Any word they didn't know the meaning of, we looked up. We also reviewed previous words. They both have incredible vocabularies now and superb writing abilities.

I love how the difficulty increases as children progress through the book. In the beginning of the book, words are only found in forward, forward diagonal and up/down positions. As you progress through the book, backward and backward diagonal, etc. are added.

I was reading on the internet recently an article talking about how kids are developing mental/emotional problems because of their over-exposure to owning and using electronic devices. Books like this are an excellent way to give kids "down time" from electronics.

I highly recommend this word seek puzzle book as not only fun but a great learning experience for your kids.
